Hi Friends! With your help, we donated over $30,000 to nonprofits in 2021.
We're just about ready to put all that was 2021 in the rearview mirror—but before we do—we wanted to share an update about some of the incredible nonprofits we were able to support because of YOU and your mind-bogglingly incredible friendship, love, and support. So, without further ado, here are a few of the initiatives that we feel made meaningful impacts in 2021:
1. Practice Makes Progress
Back in April, we invited Bay Area businesses to take a stand against anti-Asian racism and white supremacy by participating in a Day Of Action. Over 140 local businesses took the pledge of action and created collaborations, hosted pop-ups, conducted trainings, and made donations to local AAPI nonprofits. In addition to donating $3,000 from the day's sales to AAPI Women Lead, we released Practice Makes Progress, a delicious hazy IPA featuring can art by the incredible Jocelyn Tsaih. Practice Makes Progress raised an additional $13,800 donation for Good Good Eatz.
2. Bay Of Plenty
Bay Of Plenty was brewed in support of our neighbors at Alameda Point Collaborative, Alameda Food Bank, and Alameda Backyard Growers. These three amazing nonprofits nourish our local Alameda community through education, sharing, and volunteering. Bay Of Plenty helped raise $1,000 for each organization. 3. LOVE Hazy IPA: Pride Edition
These special edition cans of bestselling LOVE Hazy IPA were brewed in the spirit of equity, inclusion, and justice for all people. These colorful cans helped raise $6,300 for the Oakland LGBTQ Community Center! This awesome nonprofit is dedicated to enhancing and sustaining the well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) individuals, families and allies, by providing educational, social, health & wellness-related activities, programs, and services. 4. Future Is Fluid
Future Is Fluid was created by the women of Almanac Beer in support of the Pink Boots Society, a nonprofit that creates training and educational opportunities for womxn working in beer. We're thrilled to have raised $2,700 for the Pink Boots Bay Area Chapter this year. Cheers to a more inclusive, equitable, and fluid future!
5. 510 Kölsch
Brewed in collaboration with our friends at Hella Coastal in celebration of 510 Day. This crisp Kölsch-style ale was brewed to conjure up nostalgic vibes of sippin’ on orange sodas and popsicles on hot summer days in the 510. It was also brewed to support The Michael James Jackson Foundation for Brewing & Distilling and we're thrilled to say we were able to contribute $600 towards their fund for technical education and career advancement for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in the brewing and distilling industries.
6. Crispy Grrrl Pilsner
Crispy Grrrl Pilsner is a refreshing brew with a rebellious spirit, created by the women of Almanac in support of West Oakland’s Punks With Lunch, a nonprofit building community by providing life-saving services, along with harm reduction resources to underserved and marginalized individuals. In conjunction with this beer release, we donated $500 to their incredible work and held a menstrual product drive. Thanks to everyone who came to rock out with us and brought tampons and pads to donate! Y'all are amazing!
7. Moon Dune
Last, but certainly not least, Moon Dune helped raise $500 for Achieve Tahoe, a nonprofit focused on providing affordable inclusive outdoor recreation activities that build health, confidence, and independence for people with disabilities. We were introduced to Achieve Tahoe through the hop farm in Sonoma County that supplied the fantastic Cascade & Centennial that made this brew so special and as we close out 2021, we're struck by how much passion and kindness we see in our community of collaborators. From the farmers we source from to the with to the nonprofits we serve, we're proud to have weathered another challenging year together with you all.
