Farmer's Market Beertender

Location: Alameda & San Francisco, CA

Compensation: $18/hour + tips.

Hours: Part-time every Saturday 6:30AM - 3:00PM, average 8 hours/week. Saturday availability is a must

Reports to: Taproom General Manager

As a Farmer’s Market Beertender, you head up our Farmer’s Market booth in CUESA’s Ferry Plaza Farmer’s Market every Saturday. Beertenders are the face of Almanac and will provide a welcome, educational and exciting experience in our Farmer’s Market booth. The Farmer’s Market team will also be cross-trained to work as a Beertender in our Taproom in Alameda.

Farmer’s Market Beertenders report to the Taproom GM and are responsible for day-to-day operation of the Farmer’s Market booth including full load-in, setup, service, and breakdown of the booth. At the booth, beertenders will be sampling beer, maintaining the physical space and answering any questions from guests, while being a passionate brand ambassador for Almanac Beer Co and craft beer.


Primary Duties & responsibilities:

  • Excellent customer service!
  • Develop an expansive knowledge of Almanac Beer and proactively further your own beer education (portfolio offerings, pricepoints, beer styles, ingredients, craft beer knowledge)
  • Be an effective brand ambassador, manage guest satisfaction and overall customer/brewery visitor experience
  • Ensure the Farmer’s Market booth/Taproom are clean and comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene and health standards at all times. Ie., service areas, bar area, counters, sinks, glassware, storage areas
  • Maintain & stock inventory of Farmer’s Market booth & Taproom
  • Accurate cash handling
  • Cross-trained to give Brewery Tours
  • Cross-trained to perform opening set up and closing clean-up duties & sidework of taproom and bar


Farmer’s Market Duties

  • Full load-in and break down of equipment & delivery van, loading in Alameda, driving to SF, and driving back & unloading at Alameda.
  • Full load-in and break down of Farmer’s Market booth. Booth setup & ready for service by 8am
  • Maintain safe, clean, and attractive booth adhering to visual standards of the company.
  • Sell beer to-go & sample customers.
  • Recurring reporting of daily sales and inventory back to GM.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Prior customer service experience
  • Clean driving record & posses a valid California Driver’s License
  • Safely Operate 20’ long delivery vehicle (Sprinter Van)
  • Early morning shifts required 6:30AM - 3:00PM
  • Maintains knowledge of and strictly abides by state liquor regulations and verifies legal drinking age of customers
  • Must pass post-offer, pre-employment background check
  • Impeccable customer service standards with attention to detail and ability to multitask and work in a fast paced atmosphere with grace

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to work outside in the Farmer’s Market rain or shine adapt to weather conditions
  • Able to regularly twist, turn, lift supplies up to 30-lb (I.e., cases of beer)
  • Able to maneuver 155-lb kegs of beer (using appropriate techniques and tools) (Taproom)
  • Able to work in a production environment where noise level is usually moderate to loud (Taproom)

Our motto, Farm to Barrel, was adopted to reflect our passion for brewing barrel-aged beers that showcase ingredients from California farms. All of our beers are brewed, aged, and packaged at our 30,000 square feet brewery on the former Alameda Point Naval Airbase on beautiful Alameda Island. Our portfolio of beers spans the gamut from delicate oak-aged lagers, to nuanced barrel-aged sours, decadent stouts, and of course, hazy IPAs.
